Special Tour on Sparta – Mystra – Monemvasia – Zakinthos – Kalavrita – Athens

1st Day
Athens flight, arriving about 17:00. Departure by bus to the Peloponnese to get to Nafplio, the first capital of Greece after independence from the Turks. After a walk around town to see the Palamidi, the Akronauplio, the Bourtzi . We will go to sleep Toló, next to the ancient city of Asine Day Overnight at hotel.
2nd Day
Departure to the Mycenaean fortress Tirynto, declared World Heritage in 1999; remains visible today belong to s. XIII B.C. From there we go to the ancient city of Lerna. After visiting Lerna, will border the Gulf Argolic again to reach Argos. After visiting the remains of the city, we will go to land to reach Sparta Laconia. Overnight at hotel
3rd Day
In the valley of Eurotas visit the so-called “Menelaion” and the preserved remains of the ancient city, including the theater. In the afternoon we will go to Mystrás, fortified city built by the Franks on the slopes of Taygetos, declared a World Heritage Site in 1989. Then depart for the medieval town of Monemvasia, located on a rock over 100m. high and accessible only on foot. Overnight at hotel
4th Day
We will go to the peninsula of Mani, Areopolis, famous for its "tower-houses". From there, we skirt the Taigeto by the coastal road to reach Mesene. Visit the remains of the metropolis of Italian Messina. From there, drive to Pylos. Overnight at hotel
5th Day
Visit the Mycenaean palace of Nestor, exceptional for lacking fortifications. From Pylos we will come to visit the fortress of Methoni. Pylos night.
6th Day
We leave Pylos direction of Bassae, to visit the temple of Apollo Epicurus. From there we go to Olympia, and the Elis. After visiting the excavation and museum, we go to Kylini to take a ship bound for the island of Zante (1 hour approx.) Overnight at hotel
7th & 8th Day
2 days in Zakynthos to visit the capital and interesting points of the island: the blue caves in Agios Nikolaos, a thousand times photographed Navagio beach …
9th Day
Zakynthos We leave again by boat to the Peloponnesus, to reach Patras. The modern city, the country’s third in population, covers virtually all ancient remains, but Odeum is retained. “the most beautiful of all Greece” according to Pausanias; also we see the Byzantine fortress, the cathedral of San Andres … Night at the hotel
10th Day
Diakofto depart with direction to take a small cog train that winds through the gorge Vouraikos to Kalávryta, famous for its resistance against the Germans in World War 2. In the afternoon, we will go to Athens. Overnight at hotel.
11th Day
